About Benchspace

Benchspace was founded by George and Simon, who first met while working at Aldworth James & Bond. Their shared passion for joinery and fabrication led them to launch their own joinery company, Object Atelier. It was during this time that they experienced first-hand the importance of well-equipped communal workshops — not just for making, but for building sustainable businesses from the ground up.

After spending five years working within a shared workshop environment, they saw the potential for something better. Benchspace was born out of a desire to create one of the best communal workshops in London — a space that goes beyond access to tools and machines.

Our vision is to establish a network of modern workshops that provide makers and startups with access to commercial-grade machinery, with a focus on continually enhancing production workflows through the use of CAD/CAM technologies. But we also believe a workshop should be more than just functional — it should be a clean, inspiring, and welcoming space where people feel good about the work they do and the environment they’re in.

At Benchspace, we’re as committed to people’s wellbeing as we’re to precision joinery. Whether you’re prototyping your first product or running a growing business, we aim to support your journey with the tools, systems, and atmosphere you need to thrive.
